ELECTION NEWS.
REFORM CANDIDATE. MA A. ML Samuel, the Reform candidate for lOhinemuri, returned to Paeroa on Friday afternoon after having spoken in the various centres, on the Goldfields, including Waihi, Waikino, and Katikati. Mr Samuel, received splendid hearings during his tour, and he attributes this to .the fact that the Hon. J. G. Coates’ work and policy have captivated of. all political colours. The candidate ispoke at Tirphia. on Friday evening to a good attendance of electors. Mr B. E. Veale occupied the chair. After satisfactorily answering a number of questions the candidate received a hearty vote of thanks. Mr Samuel will address meetings of electors, at Waiorongomai to-day at noon, Shaftesbury at 2.30 p.im, and at Els tow at 8 o’clock this evening. MR POLAND’S: TOUR, Mr H. Poland, M.P., addressed a well-attended meeting at Ne.therton on Saturday evening, Mr S. J. Laughlin presiding. The address was on lineis similar to the one delivered at Paeroa. At .the conclusion of the address a. large number of questions were answered. On tlie motion of Mr T. Considine a hearty vote of thanks and renewed confidence in Mr Poland was moved. On .the suggestion of the candidate the resolution was altered to one of thanks only, and this was carried with acclamation.
Mr Poland speaks at Waihi this evening, Tahun.a to-morrow night, and Patetonga on Wednesday.
