COUNTRY PARTY CANDIDATE. FARMERS' SUGGEST WITHDRAWAL At the Turua Ratepayers' Association meeting on Monday evening a> suggestion was made and unanimously adopted to the effect that Mr A. A. Ross, the Country Party candidate who has announced his intention tb contest the Thames seat be asked to stand down, because it was not com-. sidered in the best interests of the elecorate ,to cause vote splitting and perhaps, let a Labour candidate win. The Ratepayers’ Association is the recognised voice of the farmeis of the district. It. was stated that branches of the Farmers’ Union on the Plains and in the Thames Valley were also going to make the same request.
