Another of the enjoyable dances and euchre tournaments, under the auspices of the Paeroa Roman Catholic Social Committee was held in the Gaiety Theatre last night, and, as usual, was well patronised by the local public and visitors from the surrounding districts. Probably .the greatest interest was taken in the euchre tournament, which was under the capable management of Miss M. Shaw. Seventy-six players took part in the tournament, and competition was very keen for the handsome prizes that were offered. The winners were: Ladies, first prize, Mrs W. J. Byrne; second rpize, Mrs W. Bain. Men: first, Mr W. Smith ; second, Mr L. Gibb. The younger people spent an enjoyable time dancing to music supplied, by Mr B. Christian. The duties of M.C were capably filled by Mr J. M. Crosby. A delicious supper was provided and dispensed by the lady members of the committee. Extras were contributed by Mesdames W. Pennell, Spencer, and Miss M. Rosenfeldt.
