HOSPITAL MATTERS.

THE THAMES INSTITUTION. MONTHLY REPORTS. The following reports were submitted to and approved by the Thames Hospital Board at its meeting 'at Thames on Monday : — SURGEON’S REPORT. The medical superintendent, Dr. J. Ritchie, reported for the month ended August 31, that 4'5 males and 45 females had been admitted. There had been eight deaths (four males and four females). Patients discharged numbered 80 —39 males and 41-fe-males, and 27 maleg and 31 females were remaining in the institution at date. Six out-patients, involving 24 attendances, had received service, and 18 males and 21 females had been operated on. The steam pipes installed in the operation theatre had greatly improved the temperature of the theatre. MATRON’S REPORT. The matron (Miss K. M. Ansenne) reported that Nurses Miller, Claxton, and Hill had passed the State nursing examination, the last-named passing with honours. Six nurses had passed .the. cooking examination with high marks. Maternity Annexe.—During August there were five births. Five cases were admitted, and three patients were remaining at. date. ENGINEER’S ..REPORT. The engineer (Mr A. M. Somerville) reported that the radiators had been in operation throughout the hospital during the month, and also the steam pieps in the operating theatre and maternity annexe. The coal consumption for August totalled 55 tons 17cwt. TARARU HOMES. The manager of the T'araru Homes reported that one inmate had been admitted during August, and that 1G men and 5 women were in the institute at date. The conduct of both sexes was, very good. Matters * were satisfactory on the farm. DISTRICT NURSE’S REPORT. The"district nurse, Miss SScNamara, Patetonga, reported that she had attended 19 patients during August, involving 29 visits. Fees collected totalled £1 Ils.
