CONVEYANCE OF COAL.
OBLIGATIONS OF DEALERS.
PROTECTION OF THE PUBLIC. ’ When coal is conveyed in sacks for delivery to the purchaser each sack shall have affixed a label on wihch is marked the weight of the contents, oi as an alternative a delivery ticket with similar details must be carried and produced when demanded for inspection. Non-observance of these regulations resulted in the Inspector of Weights, and Measures, Mr F. Wilson, proceeding against a carrier, J. Mee, in the Magistrate’s Court on Friday, says the Waikato “Times.” \ The inspector said'' defendant was dealing casually at the time, but the law applied to casual dealers as well as those in a big way in the coal business. In the present case it was not suggested that defendant was giving short weight. Defendant, who was convicted and ordered to pay costs, pleaded guilty, and said he 'was not aware of the regulations, and had been selling the coal for another dealer.
