TOSSED BY A BULL.
* MORRINSVILLE ACCIDENT. DOG SAVES FARMER’S LIFE. < Mr J. Goodwin, of Morrinsville, sustained severe shock and two broken ribis by being tossed by a bull on his farm on Friday (says the Morrinsville “Star”). The bull was a two-year-old Jersey, brought x fi‘om the South about 12 months ago. Mr Goodwin considered it a quiet animal, and mever had any fear of it..
On Friday Mr Goodwin went into the paddock where he kept his two bulls, caught one of them and began to lead* it.away. The other one, the twG-year-old Jersey, came up behind him and he faced it, but suddenly the animal gave a snort and tossed the unfortunate man over its "head. Mr Goodwin had the presence of mind to call his dog, which kept the bull at bay until he was able to reach and crcuss a stream about two chains away, this being the only avenue of escape. Mr Goodwin considered that the dog saved his life, because the bull, eluding the dog, followed him to the t ank of the stream, which the injured man reached only just in time.
Slowly and with much difficulty Mr Goodwin made his way to his house, it being about an hour after the accident before he could otbain assistance. He was brought into Lyntbn Hospital at Morrinsville and is how progressing faovurably.
