OBITUARY.

MR. DAVID CONGALTON. The sad news was received in Paeroa on Saturday morning that Mr David Congalton had died suddenly of heart failure at his residence, Alpha Street, Cambridge, on Friday night. Deceased, who was aged 62 years, was well-known in the Goldfields district in the early days, and was for many years employed in mining operations at Waikino. Some years ago the late Mr Congalton purchased a stationery and bookseller’is business in Cambridge. Deceased was prominently connected with Masonic matters, and in addition to being a Pastmaster of Lodge Ohinemuri, Paero.a, he held the position of Worshipful Master of Lodge Alpha, Cambridge, at the time of his death. Deceased was also a member of the Cambridge Choral Society, and was prominently identified with the Presbyterian Church. The late Mr Congalton never spared his talent as a singer, and was always willing to assist deserving organisations. • The funeral took place at Cambridge this- afternoon.
