DRUNK ON SUNDAY.
ELDERLY LABOURER CHARGED.
FOUND LYING ON THAMES ROAD.
Aji elderly labourer, a first offender, was charged before Mr F. E. Flatt, J.P., at the local Police Court this morning with drunkenness. In evidence Constable McCiinchy stated that frfom information received he arrested the defendant about 5.30 o’clock yesterday evening. The defendant was lying in a helpless state of intoxication on Thames Road. An empty whisky bottl ewas lying beside him and a full one was found in his possession. The constable said that although defendant was a first offender it was disgraceful for a man to be drunk bn a Sunday and misconducting himself on a public highway. The Bench entered a conviction and fined defendant the amount of the bait £l. with 5s cost of car hire to the police station.
