TROUBLEMEN’S HOUSES.
the tirau building. DISSATISFACTION EXPRESSED. Arising put of the manager’s report presented at yesterday's Thames Valley Power Board meeting at Te Aroha, wherein it wais stated that the boards cottage for the troubleman at Tirau was completed, Mr J. W. Anderson supplied the somewhat disconcerting information that no provision had been made for the supply of hot water in the house. Further, the linenpress was built into a corner of the bathroom, and a bedroom was separated from tlie wash-house by only rough lining boards and wallpaper. The manager said he understood that the cottage had been erected according to the plans and specifications supplied by an architect and approved of by the board. Mr Anderson said that apparently someone had blundered.
In reply to Mr F. E. Flatt the chairman (Mr F. H. Claxton) said he did not know if the same condition of affairs prevailed at Paeroa, and in the board’s other cottages. Mr Flatt considered that the position as disclosed by Mr Anderson was very unsatisfactory, and someone should be held responsible. It was decided that the mana'ger and engineer obtain a full report oft tlie condition of the four cottages erected for troublemen for submission to the September meeting.
