PAEROA HOSPITAL.

TEN TENDERS RECEIVED. PRICES BELOW ESTIMATE. At Monday’s meeting of the Thames Hospital and Charitable Aid Board the tenders for building the Paeroa Maternity and Casualty Hospital were submitted by the architect, Mr E. E. Gillman. There were ten tenders, and a pleasing feature is that they are within the architect’s estimate. The tendons received were as follows, the figures in parenthesis being the estimated cost of the building in brick Speight, Pierce, Nicol, Davys, Ltd., £5700 (£7350) ; C. W. Potterton, £6124 (£8270) ; Donavon and Ainsworth, £6237 (£8063) ; J. Pinder, £6237 12s ; Hargreaves, Stapleton, and Rblfe, £6521 (£8155) ; R. I. Roberts, £6564 (£8349) ; Mackie and Sons, £6698 ; W, Marshall, £6877 ; W. J. Clague, £7640 (£9068) ; Robinson and Beagley, £8731.

After considerable discussion, during which gratification was expressed by the members at tlie fact that the tenders were all below the architect’s cis ti mate, and that there was such keen competition for the work, it Was decided, on the motion of Mr P. E. Brenan, seconded by Mr G. Death, that all the tenders be forwarded tb the Director-General bf Health, with a recommendation that the lowest tender, that of Messrs Speight, Pierce, Nicol, Davys, Ltd., in wood (£5700), be accented.
