The fourth matches in the second round of the inter-club competition arranged by the Hauraki Plains Rugby Union were tp be played on Saturday last, but only one match in each grade eventuated. The fact that, the Ngatea club has already won both competitions no doubt had a bearing no the forfeituers by the other clubs, though the inability to get a team together owing to the few dub matches played recently was probably , the greater cause. Players have lost interest in football. The points secured by the different teams so far in the competitions aye:. ♦ Seniors: Ngatea, 16; West, 13; Coast, 8 - r Waitakaruru, 6; Turua, 6 ; Kerepeehi, 5. Juniors: Ngatea, 12; West,- 7 ; Waitakaruru, 6 ; Turua, 6 ; Kerepeehi, 5. With the exception of Ngatea, every team in both grades has one match to play. KEREPEEHI V. NGATEA. The Kerepeehi seniors secured their fifth draw in the match, against Ngar tea at Ngatea, no score’ being registered. The game was very fast and evenly contested, and had the ground been dry an excellent game would have been witnessed. As it was-, the bad conditions prevented many scores being secured. The teams were :—

Kerepeehi.—B. Moore, P. Reti, VV. Murphy, J. Adlum, J. Connor, M. Murphy, W. Kidd, R. Steedman, T. Renata, L; Kiligour, Nathan, L. Hira, T. Oneroa, T. Rapana, S. Hira. Ngatea—C. Wilton, McPherson, Gillesipe, Harris, Molloy, Nicol, Birkenhead, Phillips, Alderson, Baker, Spencer, Andrews, Hawera, Cook, Cleave. Play was in midfield until Gillespie secured and passed to Molloy, who carried t othe line, a force resulting. Ngatea returned to the attack, during which Ngatea failed to score with a free kick. A .tussle on the line, including several scrums, ensued until Ngatea had another penalty kick without result. Kereepehi had several free kicks, but could not hold the advantage gained owing to the solid' attacks of the home team. Just prior to the change-over Kerepeehi broke away and sent out in touch. For a short time after change-over Kerepeehi had the better of the game, but it was not long before team took the offensive. Both teams were endeavouring to make the game open. In the third quarter play was fast and open in neutral territory until McPherson broke away on his own and reached Kerepeehi’s line for a force. Play then went, to the other end of the field for Ngatea co force. During close play in midfield G. Birkenhead injured his knee and.had to retire, A. Courtenay going on. Play was very fast, but neither side showed to advantage. In the final round Ngatea attacked, nad. an attempt at goal fialed. Kerepeehi had for the most part to defend. Gillespie retired with an injured leg. Play ranged up and down. in neutral ground, the backs on both sides doing some good work, but no points Were secured by either isde. -r Mr D. G. McMillan was referee. A junior match was played on an adjoining field, Ngatea having 13 men and Kerepeehi 10. Ngatea scored 1G points to Kerepeehi 0. Mr Bertelsen was reteree.
