On Wednesday morning an employee of the Ohinemuri County Council was unloading sand from a Ford motor lorry on Te Arolia Road near Waitoki when a large lorry, piled high with furniture, attempted to pass the stationary Ford. Although there was ample room on the road for both vehicles the driver of the lorry pulled on to the crown of the road too soon after passing, with the result that a rope that was tied round the furniture at the rear of the lorry caught in the roof of the driver’s seat on the Ford. Before the lorry could be stopped it had torn the roof and wind-screen from the body and damaged the radiator of the Ford.

The magistrate smiled sympathetically. He evidently knew from personal experience the soothing and 'tranquilising effects Of the weed. But there are tobaccos and tobaccos. Sonie brands rae just, rank with nicotine and cannot be indulged in constantly with impunity. About the safest tobaccos on the market are those grown and manufactured in New Zealand. They arc all toasted, and contain so little nicotine that there is no fear ot developing “Smoker’s Heart,” a distressing malady, or nerve trouble. These tobacccs appeal to all smokers, and the more oyu smoke them the better you like them. That’s why they are meeting with such a large sale. Ask any tobacconist for Riverhead Gold, mild; Navy Cut (Bulldog), medium ; br Cut Plug No. 10 (Bulls-, head), full strength.*
