DUNEDIN EXHIBITION,
AUCKLAND PROVINCIAL COURT. PAEROA TO BE REPRESENTED. At last Thursday’s meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council a circular letter was received from the secretary for the Auckland Provincial Court at the forthcoming New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition outlining a scheme of publicity and requesting that the district .be fully represented and the scheme supported. Cr. Porritt favoured the borough being represented. In his opinion, the scheme should be looked on as a national undertaking, for its effects no dbubt would be far-reaching. He moved that the sum of £lo' 10s be contributed. Cr. Silcock agreed that it was desirable for the borough to be represented. Although the exchequer was rather low, he thought that £lO 10s was a reasonable sum, and he had pleasure in seconding the motion. In answer to Cr. Edwards the Mayor said that so far as he knew the money would come out of the district fund. Cr. de Castro said he thought the Mayor was the best judge of the position. If the money could be spared he felt that good might come of it. Cr. Flatt agreed. The Mayor said that population was badly needed in the district, and judicious publicity should draw attention to our borough. The motion was carried unanimously. On the motion of Cr. Mare, seconded by Cr. Edwards, the Mayor was appointed to represent the borough on the Auckland Provincial Committee.
