DAIRY CONTROL BOARD.

RESULT OF ELECTION.

SATISFACTION EXPRESSED.

Referring to the recent Dairy Control Board election, when interviewed by a reporter this morning, Mr W. Goodfellow, managing director of the K.Z. Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd., stated that the results must be regarded as eminently satisfactory. .Ml Grounds and Mr Motion had both been returned for the North Island with a very substantial majority. .In the South Island, where the proprietary interests predominate, the voting was even more satisfactory. Notwithstanding the fact that both Mr Hamilton (the retiring member,) and Mr Bryant stood in favour of absolute control and the. board’s policy, and in •consequence isplit the votes, Mr Bryant was returned at the head of the poll. If the Sbuth Island votes were analysed it would be seen that 8097 farmers voted. Of this siumber 5394 voted in favour of the Control Board's policy and 2703 against. “The results show,” said Mr Goodfellow, “that the South Island farmers are even, keener on absolute control than these of the North Island, and the statement which appeared in the “N.Z. Herald” on Thursday, 18th inst., to the effect that Mr Hamilton was opposed by two candidates standing for limited control is quite incorrect. Mr Robertson was. the only candidate representing those in opposition.”

Mr Goodfellow said he had taken the trouble to have this information confirmed upon reading the Hei aid, and had wired to the secretary of the South Island Dairy Association, who had replied as follows: — “Bryant supports Control Board, also absolute control. Is one of the original movers and strongest supliortens in Otago for control. Was a member of Dairy Council, milks one of the largest herds in Otago, and for many years was chairman of the Henley cheese factory and a director of this association and the marketing association. Was supported in this election by chairman of a majority of Otago co-op. factories”
