JUDGING JERSEYS.

INITIATING THE YOUNGER MEN. APPROVAL OF ASSOCIATION. The question of judging was brought up at the annual meeting of the N.Z. Jersey Cattle Breeders’ Association at Hamilton on Wednesday by Mr H. Moreland (Newstead), who expressed the opinion that two judges should be appointed to adjudicate on the Jerseys in all big shows. He thought, further, that to bring cut new blood the additional judge should be a young man. Mr Moreland, therefore, offered it ais a recommendation to the council that they should subsidise the cost of appointing a second judge on the condition that the man selected had never previously judged at any of the leading shows. Mr C. E. Cumming pointed out that in England many of the leading societies had adopted the system of appointing a junior judge to accompany the older and more experienced one.

Mr T. Church said that lie was agreeable to the recommendation, provided the council itself selected the

young judges.

approval of the proposal,
