MEETING OF PLAINS BODY. The monthly meeting of the Hauraki Plains Chamber of Commerce ing, the President, Mr W. E. McKay, was held at Ngatea on Tuesday evenpresiding over Messrs. G. Phillips. G. T. Davidson, E. W. Davies, S. McKay, and 11. Dent, Secretary. GANGWAY AT WHARF. In reply, to inc Chamber's request that a. gangway be supplied for use at the Ngatea whaiT the manager of the Northern Steamship Company wrote advising that this was not practicable, owing to the number of small wharves. However, the steamer was supplied with a gangway, and if this had not been used in the past, the matter would be taken up with the master. COiNSOLIDATED STOCK SALES A letter was received liom, the NewZealand Loan and Mercantile AgencyLtd.’ stating that, the matter of hold--ing a consolidated stock sale at Ngatea was under consideration. FLAX IN RIVER With reference to the numbers of bundles of green flax floating recently in the Piako River, causing a menance to shipping, a letter was Received from tlie Marine DepartmenV'explainingjthe result of investigations by the Ponce. An undertaking had been obtained that flax floating in the river would not occur again. POKENO ROAD. The impassable state of the small section of the Waitakaruru-Pokeno road near th e new Waitakaruru bridge Stream was mentioned by several members, and it was decided to make representations to the Public Woiks Department. THE RIVER ROAD. The state of the river road to Rawerawe was mentioned by several members. who complained of the difficulty of making deliveries. It was decided to ask the Council what the position was in regard to the metalling. PLACE OF MEETING. It was decided to approach the County Council in regard to the use of the chambers for meetiiings. UNLIGHTED VEHICLES. Complaints were voiced concerning the number of unlighted vehicles using the roads after dark, and it was decided to address the County Council on the matter. ECONOMICS. As is usual with this Chamber, an informal discussion on an aspect of eocnomies was held after the business proper. An interesting address mi tne subject "that the price was not the measure of value” was given by Mr E. W. Davies, and this was debated at length in its many aspects.
