Jones) presiding over an attendance of eight members. EAST CLUB DELEGATES. A letter wais received from the East club notifying that Messrs. C. Treanor, G. Morrison, and A. McKenna held been appointed delegates. DONATION. Mr. T. D. Rice, Nc‘herton, forwarded a cheque for £1 Is, and accepted the position of vice-president. It was decided to thank Mr Rice and forward him a complimentary season's ticket. REPLACING PLAYERS. The Thames Valley Rugby Union forwarded a ruling to the effect that players injured during a match could not be replaced after half-time. WAIKATO MATCH. The Thames Valley Union wrote advising that a Thames Valley V. Waikato representative match was to be played at Hamilton on July 4, and the union was asked to forward names to Dr. Lawrence, Te Arbha, who would arrange a meeting or select the team by telephone. The matter was referred to the secretary and Mr W. White, with power to act. The Thames Valley Union also advised that the annual schools grant would be paid as soon as funds were available. CLEARANCE GRANTED, C. McMillan was granted a clearance from the East Club to the Thames Rugby Union. UNFINANCIAL PLAYERS. The question of unfinancial players being selected for representative games was discussed at length, and it was agreed that the union would adhere to. its previous resolution, to the effect that any player who was unfinancial .with his club would not be considered for inclusion in tlic representative teams.

Mr C. H. Potter intimated'that the senior selector had stated that he was not concerned as .to whether a player was financial or not. When a team was selected it would have to stand. Mr D, A. Vincent contended that it wats useless carrying a resolution if effect was not given to it. Several members voiced .their opinions on the matter, and it was finally decided that as a misunderstanding had apparently arisen the teams as selected should stand. PIAKO MATCH. The secretary reported that the Piako Rugby Union had advised that it was unable to send a B senior team to play at Paeroa on Saturday next. The Piako Union’s request to send a third-grade representative team to Te Aroha to play a curtain-raiser to the Piako-Waihi match on June 27 was, deferred until next meeting. Arising out of the request, Mr Vincent pointed out that, the East thirdgrade players .were experiencing a difficulty in getting a full team together, and suggested that the weighing had been the cause of putting a number of boys out. He thought the team should be amalgamated with the other third-grade teams.

The chairman pointed out that, of all .the lads weighed on Saturday last there had only been two who were overweight.

Mr Crosby said he was adverse to amalgamation, because it would upset the school teams.

The chairman concurred, and said that, he thought it would kill school football.

Mr Vincent moved that the East third-grade players be granted clearances and allowed to join up with other teams.

Seconded by Mr W. Pennell. Mr W. Morrison contended that if the motion was carried it would not ■only spoil school football, but swamp the other teams.

Mr Vincent said that the selectors must fill up the senior teams with junior players and the junior teams with third-grade players. An amendment that the matter be deferred until the next meeting was carried. Mr Potter reported that last Saturday the Netherton third-grade team took the field, but the East team did not turn up. He moved that the match be awarded to Netherton by reason of default. Seconded by Mr Morrison and cairied. JUNIOR MATCH. It was decided to grant permission to the Thames Physical Training team to play an unofficial match against a local junior representative B team at Paeroa on Saturday next. Mr C. H. Rolton agreed to select a second junior team. TOUCH-LINE FLAGS. Mr J. D. Crawford, referee, reported that there were no touch-line flags provided on the No. 2 ground on Saturday last. The matter, was referred to Messrs Vineent and Welsh, with power to act. PROMOTION OF JUNIORS. Mr Pennell drew attention to the fact that both the local senior teams had taken the field short of players on Saturday last, and pointed out that the public was becoming very disgusted with matters ais they stood. It was small wonder the gate receipts did not show any increase. He was of the opinion that club selectors should be instructed to fill vacancies in the senior teams with junior players, Mr Vincent said that selectors could not force juniors to play senior football. Tlie chairman stated that in his opinion too much attention was paid to junior players. The senior games should be made more attractive. Mr B. Neil agreed, and said that the selectors did too much running round after old players to fill the senior teams. Mr Pennell suggested that if the

junior players refused to play senior when required they should be stoo on the line. and the schoolboys brought up. He could not understand why juniors should show so little deisire to get. into senior football.

On the motion of Mr Hodson it was resolved to write to the parent body and ask for a ruling as to whether selectors could call on junior players to fill a senior team, and in the event of the juniors objecting to promotion, what was the remedy. Seconded by Mr Potter and carried. ‘ REGISTRATIONS. W. Alley and C. S. McNamara, who were regislertv ci tnc field foi the East seniors last Saturday, were allotted to that club. REPRESENTATIVE MATCHES. Mr Pennell moved that it be a recommendation to the Thames Valley Rugby Union that when fixing the date for representative matches next season the games be arranged for the first-Saturday following June 3. Mr Pennell pointed out that with such an arrangement local clubs would not be called on to put possibly. two or three teams in tno field an 4 footballers would have an opportunity of visiting the winter race meeting at Auckland without inconvenience to their clubs. The motion was eari'ieu. PRIMARY SCHOOLS MATCH. Mr Crawford suggested that a primary schools match be played at Paeroa on Saturday afternoon instead of in the morning. It could be a cur-tain-raiser to the junior game.—Referred to the Schools! sub-Union. GENERAL. Mr Crosby was appointed manager of the junior representative team to 'go to Tc Aroha on Saturday, and Mr Welsh was deputed to manage the senior team to go to Waihi. Cars for Waihi would leave Raffill’is at 1.45 p.m. isharp. It was resolved to write and thank the donors of cars for conveying players to Waihi.
