INITIATION IN PAEROA. LADIES’ CLUB FORMED. For some weeks past several young ladies in Paeroa have been bustling round with a view • to forming a ladies’ hockey team, in the town, and the result of their efforts has proved very satisfactory. On Tuesday evening a well attended meeting of enthusiasts wais held in the Parish Hall, and it was unanimously resolved to form a club, to be known as the Paeroa. Ladies’ Hockey Club. The following officers were elected : Patron, His Worship the Mayor (Mr W. Marshall) ; president, Mr W. L. Lawrence ; vice-presidents, Mesdames H. M. Shand, H. H. Bray, C. N. O’Neill, W. L. Lawrence, Misses A. A. Kenny, M. Thorp, M. Shaw, and the Rev. F. B. Dobson; secretary and treasuier, Mfes A. F. Morland; chib captain, Miss V. Shii.nd; deputy-cap-jtain, Miss L. Payne ; committee, MissMcKee, M. Tierney, N. Morland, E. Carthy, F. Shaw, F. Leach,’-with power to add. CLUB COLOURS. After a lengthy discussion it was resolved that the club colours be black skirt, white blouse or jumper, black and while tie, and black and white bandeaux. SUBSCRIPTION. The subscription for this season was fixed at 2s 6d. GROUND. The question of securing a suitable ground until such time as the Domain was available was discussed, and finally t.he matter was left in the hands of tiie secretary and Miss McKee, with power to act. GENERAL. It was stated that a number of ladies at Netherton had signified their desire to join a club in Paeroa if one was formed. In, view of this information it was evident that the club would experience little difficulty in putting two teams in the field. The question of a coach was discussed, and it was decided to make an appeal to- ex-hockey players, bf either sex, to offer their advice and services. It.was decided .to hold a dance at an early date as a means of raising funds to purchase necessary gear. If a suitable ground could be obtained it was resolved to hold a practice game to-morrow afternoon.
