The events in the play take place on the little island of Japat, where a young lawyer is sent by his firm to safeguard the interests of the natives in some trouble arising from the will of on 3 of the owners of the island,- But there, he finds things complicated b-' the presence of a harmless young lady visitor who happens to be the princess of an obscure mid-European kingdom, and in two acts finds himself involved, through nb fault of his own, in a most strenuous and exciting campaign against the interests of his unfortunate client's.
