FOUND DEAD.
A RESIDENT OF THE PLAINS. SUFFERER FROM WAR GAS. A single man, Mr Walter Barrett, aged about 41 years, whose, relative? are thought to be residing in Auckland, was found dead outside his bach at tlie Torehape flaxmPl early on Sunday morning. Deceased visited Kaihere on Saturday afternoon and returned about 8 p.m., and was seen sitting on his doorstep. About 6 o’clock tlie following morning he wais found lying on his face just outside the door.
Constable Devereaux and Dr. J. J. Valentine were summonpd, and on arrival the doctor made an examination and stated that a certificate as to f e cause of death could be issued. Barrett was a returned soldier, and suffered from war disabilities, including gas, and had been in the. district for many years. He was recently employed at the mill on the iAwairi canali
