BOWLING.

CLOSING DAY ON LOCAL GREEN.

The official closing for the 1924-25 season took place on the local green on Satin day afternoon, a good crowd of local bowlers and visitors being present. Owing to the hea%y rain during the afternoon it was not possible to pursue the games very far. The final of the pains competition was played and woii by W. Forrest and 1. H. Pascoe, only half a point separating the winners from the runners-up. Tn declaring the season formally closed the president (Mr D. Brown) congratulated the winners of the various competitions held during the season and extended a hearty welcome to the visitors. The speaker said that he thought the club had enjoyed a very good year, and keen interest ami good sportsmanship had permeated tlie different competitions, and he trusted that next season even a better time would be experienced.

Mr W. E. W.ai'd briefly returned thanks on behalf of the visitors ami expressed his appreciation ol the;ho..pttality that had been extended to him. He said that as he was appointed permanently to Paeroa he wa< looking forward to spending many .enjoyable days on the bowling green. He also congratulated the club on the excellence of its appointments, and commented on the fine green available amidst such pretty suj roundings and so centrally situated.

Mr W. Forrest, in a harny spe ch,, congratulated the president and committee on the work carried out during the year, and said that, in his opinion, the season had been one. ol the best yet experienced by the club.

Cheers for the president and 'the various winners brought a very successful season to a formal close.
