SATUBDAFS PLAY. An enjoyable afternoon was spent on Saturday, when a teams match, representing the President versus Captain, was played. The president’s team won by one game?. The individual resutls were as follows, the player representing the president being mentioned first: — Miss W.almsley beat Miss Thorp; 5 up and 4' to play; Mrs Edwards beat Mrs Lawrence, 3 and 1; Mrs Taylor lost to Mrs Little, 7 and 6 ; Mrs Andrews Leat Miss Argali, 1 up; Mns Hubbard and Mrs Topliss, ail square2; Miller lost to Bray, 3 and 1; Somervell lost to Dales, 4 and 3; Kenny beat Hubbard, 3 and 2; Moresby’ beat Wilkinson, 8 and 6; Smith lost to Blakcway, 3 and 2. The Ladies’ Club will commence week-day matches on Wednesday next. The match will be a jumble medal handicap, with no trophy of greater value than Is. Play is to commence at 1.45 p.m. Lloyd, H. Spinks. Muir, N. Neil, C. Vincent. The visitors kicked off, and immediately went on the attack, a force resulting. Play returned, tc neutral territory, where Vincent picked jip and with a smart run beat the opposition, but ran out at the corner flag. Following the line-out King obtalneu possession and carried down the field, anil was within an ace of scoring when McKenna ran across and collared him, the ball rolling out of bounds. Following a loose rush R. Mead passed to Hardman, to J. Rackham, who car:fed over. The kick was unsuccessful. Karangahake 3. East 0. Earlv in the second quarter th-i home team w.as again defending. M. McLeod picked up in the loose and. passed to R. Mead, who beat McKenna and scored near the corner. c. McLeod failed to convert. Karangahake 6, East 0.
On resuming after half-time a bout of loose play ensued in neutral territory until King took a mark in front of Last’s goal and cleared the bar in good style. Karangahake 9, East 0. hi the final quarter East attacked, but lack of combination spoilt several chances, the backs appearing to shrink from going forward. Following a brief period of play about halfway Hardman started a passing rush which terminated in King crossing the line near the posts, but he was brought back for a breach. From the drop-out Qriffin secured possession and crossed'the~ line, and Jim Rackham added the etxra pointe. Katanga hate 11, East . Mr E. Smith was referee."
