GAIETY THEATRE PICTURES.

TO-NIGHT “ THE DAWN OF TO-MORROW." A thrilling tale of the London plluns and of the happiness that came to one little waif is the. grippingly human story- that will be unfolded to the audience this evening, when the Paramount picture, “The Dawn of a To-morrow,” will be screened. George Melford is the director, and the players are headed by Jacqueline Logan and David Torrence.

The greatest epics of the stage and of literature have been centred about the figure of a woman. Men may be of heroic mould and adventurous of spirit, but woman exudes a spirit of romance, love, and drama that has made her the favourite character of writers of all kinds. Thus, in “Lilies of tlie Field,” which is to be shown to-morrow night, we find the theme •focussed on the modern woman and the “deal” handed her by the world. Patient, long-suffering, and meek, she is the particular victim of fate, and is buffeted about mercilessly. Loving, she is met with repulses and neglect ; forgiving, she is thrown aside. Tlie film is superbly enacted by Corinne Griffith and Conway Tearle, supported by one of the .strongest casts ever assembled, and ip cue of the greatest dramas in the history of fllmdom ODDFELLOWS BALL. MONDAY NIGHT’S FUNCTION. The committee handling the arrangements for the holding of the Oddfellows grand annual plaiyi and fancy dress ball, to he held in the Gaiety Theatre, Paeroa, on Monday night, has matters well forward, and dance patrons are assured that everything is being done .to ensure their comfort and pleasure, and no effort is being spared to make the function a notable and enjoyable one; The Morrinsville Jazz Band has been engagefl, valuable prizes are offered for the fancy dujss competitions, and an elaborate sit-down supper has been arranged. These are items that are being concentrated on in the provision of an evening’s enjoyment..
