PLAYING AREA.

FOOTBALL GROUND SECURED. FIELD AT RACECOURSE. The Paeroa Rugby Union report:; that satisfactory . arrangements have been made for a playing area for this season. On Wediwcday morning Messrs W. Pennell, J. M. Crosby, and A. E. Say (Paeroa. Rugby Union), H. H. Bray and S. J. Hedge (Golf Club), and A. D. McGuire, P. E. Brenau, and E. Shaw (Ohhieniuri Jockey Club), met on the racecourse and discussed the position, with the result that the three clubs compromised and an arrangement has been entered into whereby the Rugby Union has been granted permission, to use a portion of the racecourse on the Thames Ilbad side of the course. The arrangement will necessitate the Golf Club cutting out a portion of its present course, and this has been willingly agreed to by the club. 't'he Rugby Union, at its meeting last night, passed a resolution if hearty appreciation of the practical help and sporting spirit ill which its request was dealt with by the Golf and Jockey Clubs.
