The president cmogratulated the union on the live and energetic committee it had appointed, and he considered it was a matter for gratification that there was a revival in Rugby interests in the town and dis trict. and he earnestly hoped that a successful year would eventuate.
Mr J. M. Crosby (secretary) moved the the boundaries be abolished and the club system reverted to. Seconded by Mr J. W. T. Jones. It answer to Mr Walmsley Mr Jones said that the committee would take into consideration the formation of the clubs in existence . last year, but in the interests of football ne would oppose the formation , of another team. The resolution was- then put and catried unanimously. The question of each club having the right to elect its own delegates to the executive was deferred until the next meeting. APPEAL FOR REFEREES. Mr R. B. Penlingtou, at the invitation of the meethig, explained that the annual meeting of the Referees’ Association had been called for Wednesday night, but only three men had attended. It was a deplorable state ot affairs, he contended, and unless cxplayeiS would come forward and offer their services he failed to see now the clubs could- pursue the compete tions. The speaker made a special appeal for assistance, and. concluded with the remark that po long as a man was willing and not broken-wiml-ed he would be welcomed. Mr Jones suggested that each centre should supply at least one referee for each match. The committee could not progress if referees were not forthcoming, and it was worthy of remembrance that an adequate number of referees to control the games was of equal importance as a live executive committee.
