Mr A. H. Payne, secretary of the Waihi Boxing Association, was in Paeroa yesterday, making inquiries as toq the support that would be forthcoming if a contest was held in the town. Messrs G. H. Taylor and J. W. T. Jones, headmasters of .the Paeroa District High School and the Karimgahake School, respectively, left Paeroa by steamer to-day for Auckland to attend a meeting of the N.Z. Educational Institute. Mr J. G. McDougall, who has been postmaster at Paeroa for many years, retires from the department on supcrannuar.ion as from to-day. Mr AV. J. Cryer, of Tc Aroha, h.as been appointed relieving postmaster at the local office pending the arrival of Mr J. E. Ward, from Huntley.
