PLAINS TENNIS.
HANDICAP FINALS. GOOD PLAY AT TURUA. Three of the four handicap tournaments arranged by the Hauraki Plains Tennis Association were brought to a close on the Turua Club's courts on Thursday last. There was a fair attendance of spectators, and keen games were .witnessed. Tn the semi-finals of the inejn’s singles M. O’Connor, whose handicap was 12. beat D. G. McMillan, who was handicapped 18, by 70 —64. S. Coppins., who was 18 behind, beat D. Pike, 14 behind, by 70—42. in tlie finals Goppins beat O’Connor 70 —43. Pike and O'Connor won the doubles by beating Murphy and Murphy 70—67, the handicaps being .15 and 10 behind.
In the ladies’ singles Mrs Speedy beat Miss Duffy 50—38, both players being handicapped 20. Owing to the illness of Mrs Hunter the ladies' doubles match between Miss. O’Connor and Mrs Hunter and Mrs Scott and Mrs Valentino had .o be postponed.
