DEATH OF AGED MAORI.
WELL-KNOWN PAEROA RESIDENT.
A well-known and highly respected Maori, in the person of Himi Te Kemara, better known as “Jimmy,” was discovered dead in his whare on the left bank of the Ohinemuri River, Paeroa, early yesterday morning. Deceased had been in failing health for some time, and although his relatives had been apprised, of the fact the old mail had been principallylooked after by Mr R. W. Evans, whose residence is in close proximity tp the whare. Yesterday morning Mr A. Grant, who resides with Mr Evans, visited the whare, taking with him some food for the old man. Receiving no response to his knock Mr Grant went inside and fotlnd the Maori dead. An inquest is to be held this afternoon.
Preparations are being made for the holding of a tangi at the Te Pai-o-Hanraki Pab, Paeroa.,
