BUGGY ACCIDENT.
CHILD INJURED. COMPOUND FRACTURE OF LEG. A very painful accident bcfel Ada, the four and a half year old daughter of Mr R. W. W. Archer, Paeroa, on Thursday afternoon last. It appears that the little girl bad driven to Paeroa in a buggy with Mrs J. Nathan, of Thames Road. On arrival at the horse trough near the junction of Station and Belmont roads a stop was made to allow another horse to pull out. When the horse attached to the buggy moved forward again the sudden movement dislodged the little girl from her seat andshe fell between the body of the vehicle and the wheel and across the front axle. Although ■prompt action was taken by Mrs Nathan, the horse had moved sufficiently to cause a partial revolution of the wheel, with the result that the victim’s leg became lodged in the ■spokes. The screams of the child attracted a passing motorist, who conveyed her to Nurse Clymo’rs, Dr. Little was hastily summoned, and ee administered and anaesthetic in ord •’? to ascertain the extent of the injuries.
The examination revealed a compound fraction of the left leg and -dislocation of the knnee of the same liii’b, in addition to body bruises.
On Friday the little sufferer, was removed to the Waihi Hospital for an X ray examination, and die is progressing as favourably as can be expected.
