Minor repairs to metal have been done on the Paeroa-Thamcs road. The road should be scarified, graded, and rolled to provide a smooth surface. “I find,” continued the report, “that the contractor for the Hauraki Plains County Council is not keeping the road over which he is carting metal in repair. I have communicated with M' Basham, county engineer, requesting that repairs be effected with as little delay as possible, as the season is getting late. Mr Basham has since called and promised to have the repairs done. “Damages of a severe nature occurred to the Omahu bridge on the evening of March 17, and were probably caused by heavily laden vehicles returning from the Paeroa races. Temporary repairs have been carried out, but it is estimated that it will cost £2OO to put the bridge in good repair, and I would recommend that the matter receive urgent attention.” The engineer was instructed to prepare estimates for repairing the bridge and submit them to the Highways Board. The chairman and Cr. McCormick wore appointed to go into the matter of acquiring the old factory at Kopu, with power to act. .
