GAIETY THEATRE PICTURES. TO-NIGHT • THE THIEF OF BAGDAD.’' Followers of the "rip-roaring-rol-licking-hero” style of adventure that was introduced into films by Douglas Fairbanks will find it a’plenty in ‘'The Thief of Bagdad,” which is to be shown to-night. In this picture Douglas plays the part of a ragged rascal—a hanger-on of the slum-ridden edges of Bagdad. His incorrigible daring takes him to the Royal Palace, where he meets the beautiful Princess. Then begins a series of wildest adventures. These take him across a sea of molten lava, under' the ocean, into the clouds, and to weird places that never existed except in the imagination of the Arabian Nights storytellers. Through all the fantastic tale runs a love theme that calls for all .the romantic fervour of Doug’s serious moments. He is supported by an excellent cast headed by Julanne Johnston, who makes her debut a-s a leading lady The number of people appearing in the production reaches many thousand, and the sets are jsaid to be the most magnificent ever used in a motion picture.
