AIRMAN'S FORTUNE.
PROPERTY IN MELBOURNE - £1,509,000 FOR £l2O. Melbourne papers just to hand announce that Captain E. J. Howey, who served in the Royal Air Force during the war, hats just inherited property, in Australia worth £1,500,000, according to London tiles.
Tragedy and romance are blended in the history of this property. It stands on a piece of land in Meir bourne which was purchased during the pioneering days in Australia by an ancestor of Captain Howey for £l2O. The property has increased. in value to such an extent that, it is now regarded as one of the most valuable sites in Australia.
Shortly after making the purchase Captain Howey’s ancestor, a captain of a sailing vessel, was drowned with his wife aud seven children. The title deeds were then lost, and it was. not. until comparatively recent times that the Howey family established their claim to the property. Captain Howey is now in Australia... with his wife and brother, and after a brief visit will return to England.
