VALEDICTORY.

MR. A. J. HEIGHWAY. DAIRY COMPANY FUNCTION. Mr A J. Heighway, advertising manager of the N.Z. Co-op. Dairy Co., Ltd., has terminated his connection with the company. Before leaving, Mr W. Goodfellow', managing director, on behalf of a full gathering of the members ot the head office and Frankton staffs, presented Mr Heighway , with a handsome silver tea and coffee . service aw an expression of the - esteem in which he is held by the members of the staff. Mr Goodfellow said that Mr Heighway had had charge of a number of important departments, and as he had a firet-class commercial brain ha had administered those departments efficiently and well. His most outstanding work had been the preparation and publication of the. booklet “The Empire’s Dairy. Farm.” He (Mr Goodfellow) had received personal letters from all quarters of the world commenting upon the fine character of this publication, and there was no doubt that Mr Heighway had established a reputation for himself by it.

In replying, Mr Heighwaj - stated that, he had appreciated the experience he had enjoyed with the Dairy Company, and felt it a privilege to have been associated with Mr Goodfellow for the past two and a half years. He recognised Mr Goodfellow as one of the leading commercial men of New Zealand, but he was also an . idealist of great vision. It was only - because he was such an idealist that he. had been able to conquer the difficulties with which he had been confronted in the process of building up . the company to its present size. The' work Mr Goodfellow had done was a very big work, and on his (Mr Heighway) part, he appreciated very much the close association with-Mr a Goodfellow and the company.
