TURUA ROADING.

- ■ SATISFACTORY PROGRESS. Good weather and ample supplies of metal have, permitted the bitumen sealing work on the Tu-riia-Netherton Road to be pushed on quickly during the past few days. Up to Monday' last about 50 chains of the road from the Orchard Eagt Road corner was completed. It is proposed to go ahead on this road for about 20 chains beyond the Te Kauri drain, provided the good weather lasts. This decision lias been arrived at in view of the fact that the road proposed to oe treated is in an exceptionally bad state, and it would take at least three weeks to shift the plant and lay the tram from the Wliarepoa ferry landing. If the weather remains fine it is felt that the delay would not be justified. The completion of the rest of the road would not be delayed at all by the new arrangement. At. the present time work has to be done at night to cope with the metal supplies. On the Turua-Orongo road work the N.Z. Roads Coy. Ltd. have laid about 20 chains of the first course of metal beyond the Town Board boundary, but up to Monday had not commenced scaling as no chips were available. The contractors hope to have the job completed for the. 125 chains to the red metal road next month.
