ADOPTION OF RULES.
EXECUTIVE APPOINTED.
The committee appointed by a meeting of flaxgrowers at Kaihere jcceiitly to draw up for the flaxgrowers’ Association in process of formation submitted rules to a meeting on Wednesday evening, Mr T. McLoughlin presided over an attend- ; ance 'of twelve, and rules were discussed at length, amended in part, and finally adopted. They provided that the Hauraki Plains Phormium Tenax Growers’ Associal, comprising persons interested in the growing of flax, including prospective growers, be formed for the development of the flax-growing industry. protection of flax areas, and rhe most improved method of growing, harvesting, milling, and marketing; also the erection of a mill by ' the association if necessary. Flax areas are to be securely fenced and kept clear of noxious weeds, particularly blackberry, and are not to be grazed by cattle. ' In addition to the machinery clauses there are rules concerning the terms under which flax is, to be sold to millers. Having a monopoly of the mill able flax in the area, the association is in a position to dictate terms if necessary. An executive committee of five is to be appointed by members annually to control all dealings with flax, members to have the right of appeal to the association from decisions of the executive. Ths executive appointed comprised : Messrs T. Lynch, A. J. McDonald, W. Suckling, G. Tizard, and T. McLoughlin. Mr G. Tizard was appointed secretary to the association. , ■ Membership fees Were fixed at -<s 6d per annum, and eighteen members were enrolled at the meeting.
