HAURAKI DRAINAGE BOARD.

Sir,—A letter appearing in your . issue of March 9, signed by "Who’s Who,” states that “Mr Willy had nothing to do with the founding of the Boaru,” i.e., the Hauraki Drainage ' Board. As, evidently, “Who's Who s’ memory is playing him false, I would direct his attention to the minutes of a . meeting of the Turua branch of the, Farmers’ Union held on December 8, ,1915. He will find that the writermoved, and Mr V. L. Bagnall seconded, a motion to. rescind a former resolution to place the maintenance of the drains in the hands of the Count} Council. On this being carried I then moved, and Mr J. A. Bennett seconded, “that this meeting affirms the desirability and necessity of a drainage board in this district or some similar body.” On this being carried I then moved, and Mr W. Richmond seconded, “that a committee be set up to go into the matter and expedite the formation of a Drainage District." This, in <bie course, came into being, and in the present Hauraki Drainage Board. I would advise “Who’s Who” to be - sure of his facts in future, otherwise he may be accused of “dreaming.” Every statement appearing in your issue of March 2 regarding iiiy candidature can be verified. W. E. G. WILLY.
