OBITUARY.
MISS MAWHATU NICHOLLS. A wide circle of will regret to learn of the death of Miss Mawhatu Nicholls, To Aroh a Road, Paeroa, aged 24 years, which occured rather suddenly on Thursday evening last. The late Miss Nicholls, who has been suffering with ill-health for the past twelve months, was born in Paeroa am! educated at the local district high school. On completion of her education she entered the office of Mr. E. W. Porrit, solicitor, Paeroa, where she remained for some time, during which jshe made many friends. Later on deceased entered the Waikato hospital, Hamilton, as a nurse, and was making rapid progress in her profession, when ill-health compelled her to retire, and she returned to her home. Although at times .suffering grea pain during alingering illness, the deceased bore it with cheerfulness and courage, and wais never once known to complain. Deceased was a daughter of the late Mr George W. Nicholls and a grand-daughter of the lat? Hon. W. G. Nicholls, M.L.C. The late Miss Nicholls was buried at the Paeroa Cemetery yesterday afternoon. The funeral was a large one, and the beautiful floral emblems bore eloquent testimony of the esteem and regard in which this young lady was held. The last rites at the graveside were performed by the Rev. F. B. Dobson.
A tangi was held at the Taharaia Meetinghouse. ‘
