INCIPIENT FIRE.

__e BOILING WA/ IGNITED. SLIGHT DAMAGE TO RESIDENCE. An incipient fire occurred at the resilience of Mr D. McKee, Dearie Street, Paeroa, on Saturday morning. The firebell was rung vigorously, and the brigade turned out promptly, but fortunately its services were not required. as some of the railway men, noticing a cloud of smoke issuing from the rear of the residence, riii) across to the house and smothered the fire with some sacks.

It appears that a member of the family was melting tsome beeswax in a tin on the kitchen range when the wax boiled over and ignited, causing a stream of flame to run down on to the floor, where a mat caught alight, little damage was done beyond the charring of a few floorboards and a portion of the mantelpiece.
