HAURAKI PLAINS BATES.
Sir—in your issue of February 4 you published a letter over the pignature of Cr. J. F. Mayn offering a correction of a statement attributed to him in a previous issue. Cr. Mayn’s corrected statement reads, “that administrative expenses, and other charges against the general fund (overhead expenses), total fifty per cent, of the rates stY-uck,” and with this state of affairs Cr. Mayn appears quite satisfied. This, ip a mattei" of vital importance to ratepayers, and to enable us to intelligently comprehend the value of his correction, would Cr. Mayn inform us what is the actual percentage of the collectable rate consumed by administrative expenses, and v. hat are the “overhead expenses” referred to as not coming within tne scope of administrative charges. ORDINARY RATEPAYER. Patetonga, February 11, 1925.
