DYNAMITING OF FISH.

(To the Editor!. Sir,—For tlie past fifteen years the sportsmen of Ohinemuri have spent time xind money in an endeavour to provide fishing and shooting for lovers of sport. We have often been disappointed with the amount of public support, but we have never lost heart. The stocking of pur streams with vrout has been a slow process, but we are now gettnig results. Recmitly, however, a menace to all our efforts has sprung up in the shape of dynamite fiends,- who, during the last few weeks, have commenced operations in the Komata stream. Our society has been liberating fry in this stream for eight years, and the fish are making splendid progress, but unless dynamiting is stamped out immediately the work of eight years will have gone tor nothing, and no flhs will remain. One charge of dynamite in a hole destroys every fish, large and small, .therein. We ixsk foxthe co-operation of all fair-minded residents, and suggest that a sharp lookout be kept to secure, the conviction of these dynamite fiends who, if allowed, to go on, will destroy all tlie fish in every stream in our district. The fact that the Auckland society has increased the reward to £2O fox’ each conviction indicates the 'seriousness of the position. ANGLER.
