WAIKATO A.& P. ASSN.
IN NEED OF FUNDS.
STOCK DRIVE TO BE HELD. It will be remembered that owing io bad weather the Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s Show at Claudelands last November was not a financial success. The executive estimates at a conservative figure the loss to be in the vicinity of £3OO, and an endeavour is to be made to wipe off this deficiency and other heavy liabilities that have to be met. At a meeting of the association last week arrangements were made for the holding of a stock drive throughout the Waikato. District committees were set. up, and gifts of stock will be taken to the nearest saleyards, where they will be sold on behalf of the association. The president (Mr F. R. Seddon) opened the list by a gift of five bullocks, and already other members of. the committee and supporters of the show have signified their intention of acting on similar lines. Besides the loss incurred on the show the association has. incurred a liability of over £2OO, brought about by the enforced expenditure on Sanitary appointments in compliance with the Health Authorities’ by-laws. The annual income of the association has also been reduced by over £4OO. This sum accrued annually as rent for the use of! the showgrounds from the Hamilton Racing Club and Waikato Hunt Club, but both of these bodies have now discontinued using the Claudelands course.
