A RESIGNATION.
OR MADGWICK’S ACTION. ILL-HEALTH THE CAUSE. Cr. W. Madgwick, of Turua, who has been very ill during the past month, attended the monthly meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council for a short time yesterday. Finding it necessary to leave, he handed to the chairman a letter containing his resignation from the council. The chairman said that he was very sorry to receive the communication. He hao worked with and against Cr. Mbdgwick both before he became a member of the council and since, and he was glad to say that the utmost good feeling had prevailed. Cr. Madgwick had t.aken a great interest in the activities of the council, and had proved an earnest battler for his riding. His place would be hard to fill, as the council was suffering a distinct loss by his departure. During his teim of office Cr. Madgwick had crossed swords with many of the councillors, but he( the speaker) was sure that no malice whatever had been borne.
Other councillors endorsed these remarks and the resignation was accepted with regret.
