MAIN HIGHWAYS BOARD.

VISIT TO OHINEMURI COUNTY. Members of the Main Highways Board, in their tour to obtain firsthand information regarding the various districts, paid a visit to the Hauraki Plains and Ohinemuri counties last week, motoring from Auckland. The object of the tour is also to inquire into the conditions of road-mak-ing, plant available by the various local bodies, and the conditions generally applicable to the huge roadinaking schemes that are contemplated The party, which was in the district on Monday, consisted of the following : Mr Campbell, Auckland, chairman of the No. 2 Highways Council and district engineer to the Public Works Department: Mr Tindall, Wellington, resident engineer, Main Highways Board ; Mr Wynyard, reprejjienting the automobile interests of the Board; Mr Cottell. Taranaki, member of the Board. The were met at Paeroa by the county chairman, Mr A. R. Robinsou, Mr L. May, Public Works resident engineer, and Mr E. Shaw, county engineer. Mr Robinson explained to the visitors what the county was prepared to do and the road-making machineryavailable.
