BOWLING.
GOLDFIELD STARS. RETAINED BY PAEROA on Saturday last the Waihi Bowling Club challenged the Paeroa club for the Goldfields Stars, which are held by the local club. Several heavy showers of rain fell during .the afternoon, and conditions for bowling were far from ideal, .the greens being very heavy, making it almost impossible to successfully bring off the finer points of the game. However, the contest proved very interesting, and the local club succeeded in retaining the coveted stars. A full twenty-one heads game was played, the flnal ( scores being: Paeroa 22, Waihi 16. The teams were as follows :— Waihi. —Hovell, Dare, MaGongale, Smith (skip). Paeroa. —Gibb, Power, G. H. Taylor, Pinder (skip). The Waikino club has the next challenge in, and the match will probably be played on Saturday, December 13, at Paeroa.
