FIRE BRIGADE.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Paeroa Volunteer Fire Brigade was held at the Fire Station, Hall Street, on Tuesday evening last, Captain W. Moore presiding, The annual report stated that the brigade had held twenty-two meetings during the year, eight wet practices, and had attended eight outbreaks of fire. The average attendance at meetings was eleven members, and at fires nine members. The brigade was now at full strength, and consisted of three officers, seven firemen, secretary, and a messenger. The equipment was in fair order, and comprised one reel, three hydrants, five branches, two unions, one torch, thirteen Uniforms, eight axes, eleven helmets, eleven belts and pouches, and eight spanners.
In moving the adoption of the report Captain Moore said that the membens were well satisfied .with the new fire station and appointments. An endeavour had been made to fit the meeting and social rooms out attractively. and it was hoped to hold many pleasant gatherings in them in the future. >
The brigade recorded its appreciation of the work done by the Fire Council, and extended grateful thanks to Mr F. E. Flatt, chairman, who had worked hard to bring the brigade and its appointments more up-to-date and more in keeping with the requirements of the N.Z. Fire Brigade's Association.
The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: Superintendent, .Captain W. Moore ; lieutenant. E. Moore; secretaiy, Eugene Shaw; foreman, H. Wilton; delegate to Fire Council. J. Hubbard.
