GAIETY THEATRE PICTURES. TO-NIGHT THE ACQUITTAL. “The Acquittal,” from Rita Weiman’s famous stage play, is to be shown to-night, and is one of Universal s big achievements of the year. The gripping mystery story, enacted by a powerful all-star cast headed by Norman Kerry and Claire Windsor, is one of suspense, thrills, and faultless acting throughout. The audience watches with bated breath as suspicior leaps from character to character, and gasps with amazement as, with a final dramatic flash, the mystery is cleared in the powerful climax. Clarence L. Brown, the director, chalked up a masterpiece to his credit when he transferred the Broadway play to the celluloid. WHEN ODDS ARE EVEN. “Wnen Odds Are Even,” a William Russell production, will also be screened to-night. It is a romantic adventure drama that takes in half the world before the final fade-out. The action leaps from the Golden Gate to the South Sea Islands, wheie William Russell displays a new phase of his talent. Dorothy De Vote, Frank Beal, Lloyd Whitlock, and others equally well-known in motion pictures have prominent roles in this production.
