BOWLING.
WEEK-END PLAY. The local bowlers took advantage of the fine weather that prevailed on Saturday afternoon, and there was a large attendance at the domain. The Brenan Memorial Shield competition was commenced, and no less than ten rinks are taking part in the contest. A number of enthusiasts returned to the green in the evening and enjoyed the play under electric light. The first match of this season for the night play challenge buttons was played between two teams, comprising E. Edwards, T. Black", D. Brown, and P. Williams (skip), representing the club, and G. McNeil, T. L. Williams, G. Morrison, and L. C. Cane (skip), railways. After a close and interesting game the club team won by 26 points to 23.
