VETERINARY CLUB.

MONTHLY MEETING. The regular monthly meeting of the executive of the Farmers’ Veterinary Club was held at Ngatea on Thursday afternoon, Mr U. H. Waite presiding over Messrs A. J. Andrews, J. T. Davidson, J. Darlington, R. Burke. E. W. Martin, and the secretary, Mi - C. A. Gibson. appreciation. A member wrote stating that he had mislaid the club’s account, bUv forwarded a cheque flor £l2, which should place his account in creditHe would like to thank the veterinary surgeon for his services. Four sear sons ago he had 28 cows slip, and 23 t{ie following year. The services of the club’s surgeon were obtained, and the numbers were brought down to one last year and two for the present season. This spring he had • about 30 cows with garget, and under Mr Costello’s treatment not one quarter would be lost. In addition to these he had had other valuable services at different times. He concluded by saying; It would be hard for me to say what I have saved by being a member of your club, but I am sure it is better than any insurance policy. Please express my thanks to Mr Costello and your committee." SURGEON’S REPORT. The veterinary surgeon, Mr J. Costello, reported having attended 30 different members in connection with about 50 different animate. Many had required several visits. FINANCE. The secretary reported that there was about £3O in hand to meet accounts totalling £BO. Unless the accounts for drugs were paid promptly supplies would be stopped. The chairman, Mr W. Waite, and also Mr Andrews, reported having interviewed a great number of members whose accounts were long overdue, and in the majority of cases payment had been promised, but practically nothing had been received. The matter was discussed at length and it was decided that drastic legal action be taken. A member wrote stating that as he had been legally advised that the club could compel him at law to pay a subscription for the year in which he tendered his resignation he enclosed a cheque for £5.
