CHESS CLUB. (To the Editor}. Sir,—Paeroa has one of the most up-to-date gentlemen’s clubs in the province; indeed, it does Paeroa’s residents credit. Are there no chess players in Paeroa ? Te Aroha has a club with a membership of 24, and hopes are entertained for a membership of 30 next year. Telegraphic and inter-club matches have been played with Thames, Hamilton, Morrinsville, and as far as Gisborne. Let some of our “Morphys” take up the game again and challenge Te Aroha. ROOK.
