EAST FOOTBALL CLUB.
Sir, —On reading the report of the East Football, Club’s smoke concert, appearing in the issue of The Hauraki Plains Gazette” of 31st ultimo, I notice certain remarks made by Mr T. P. Vuglar with regard to the Paeroa Rugby Union which, I think, are due to comment, they being contrary to fact. I quite agree that the East club heartily deserved winning the double event, yet the Rugby Union is not. deserving of the statement that the East club seemed to be the "underdogs” in the union. If Mr Vuglar is able to prove that the East club has been harshly treated by the union during the past season I will willingly donate a gold medal to be played for in one of the East teams next season.
If the introduction of the boundary system had been so much against the East senior team, how was it that during the season the East team was' more largely represented in the Paeroa senior reps, than any other team ? C. H. BUTCHER
